Serving the east end of Long Island, NY

Thank you for visiting Hamptons Pilates. Pilates (pronounced puh-LAH-teez) is an exercise technique invented
in the 1920's by Joseph H. Pilates. As a child he had suffered with
asthma, rickets, and rheumatic fever. Even as a young adolescent he
made a life-altering decision to restore his own health. He studied the
Eastern disciplines of yoga and martial arts and blended them with
Western forms of physical activities such as bodybuilding, gymnastics,
boxing, and recreational sports. At the age of fourteen years he had
sculpted his physique so well that he was posing for anatomical charts.
Years later he opened the very first Pilates studio in NYC where
legendary dancers trained. Today, everyone enjoys the benefits of Pilates.
Pilates Mat is a unique method
of exercise that involves controlled movements which focus on
strengthening the "powerhouse" muscles of the body. The "powerhouse"
consists of the abdominals, lower back, hips and butt. Pilates
increases flexibility, strength, balance, coordination of movement and
creates a mind/body connection without any equipment needed other than
your body, an exercise mat and your willingness. Life out on the east
end of Long Island can be a tranquil experience with the ocean or bay a
few steps away. But stress and poor exercise habits can creep into our
lives and destroy not only our bodies, but our peace of soul. Learn
through my one on one sessions or small group classes that the
physicality of the body when in harmony with the breathe and soul can
be an amazing experience. I look forward to getting to know you!
